This album cover was made in response to the song, Arcade by Duncan Laurence. Without reference of what the actual album looks like, I decided to create this album on lyrical inspiration. I tried to communicate the feelings of the song into the cover with symbolism. Because the title of the song is arcade, I felt nothing fit this cover better than a game you’d actually play at an arcade. The song essentially refers to love being a game you lose, hence the scoreboard showing love losing by ten. Front and center we have a person sitting, who clearly isn’t having good time. Their expression shows they’re “over it” and upset, referencing the lyrics that say “loving you is a losing game”, and the amount of times it’s happened according to the scoreboard. Another symbol are the pennies next to the slot. referencing a direct line from the song saying “how many pennies in the slot”. Overall I concentrated on evoking the emotions and lyrics to this song.
