Book cover for Tova Rabinowitz’s Experimental Typography
We created a book that showcased our own letterforms built from photographed dimensional materials. Grabbing from nature’s own resources, we used photographs of flowers to create the letterforms. The goal of this project was to explore the creative possibilities of expressive typography while paying attention to the legibility (clarity of letterforms) and overall unity of a typographic system. We paid attention to lighting and resolution settings when photographing our materials to minimize our time spent editing the photographs, and focusing on the letters they created instead. Like the title of the book, our purpose was to have fun and be experimental to assemble our cover design.
